The Langlade County Snowmobile clubs, sponsors, and operators of the existing trails, have put in many volunteer hours brushing, signing, and grooming to provide snowmobile trails for your use. Please support the snow clubs, thank them for their efforts, and patronize their business sponsors.

All lake trails in Langlade County are considered unsafe and should not be utilized until they have been clearly marked by a local snowmobile club. As always, the Langlade County Forestry, Parks & Recreation Department recommends riders stay on clearly marked trails, ride safe and ride “right”.

The snowmobile clubs spend a considerable amount of time working with landowners to be able to provide the exceptional trail system we have. Please respect private property and the efforts of the clubs to access private property; use of trails across private lands is a privilege. Always exercise caution when riding a snowmobile, the trails are in early-season condition and are variable across the County depending upon snow depth and base thickness. Due to the recent warm weather, expect icy conditions present throughout the trail system.

In addition to the icy conditions, some trails may be rough as expected. Heavy grooming equipment won't be able to make it through wet areas unless we get cold temperatures and snowmobilers can pack these areas and drive frost down! So just be mindful as the snowmobile clubs are aware of rough trail segment. Please be safe and enjoy riding!

For questions regarding specific trail conditions, please contact the local snowmobile club or visit their social media accounts or go to https://www.langladecounty.org/resources/trail-reports/. You may also contact the Forestry, Parks and Recreation at 715-627-6300.

We hope that you enjoy the Langlade county trail system this winter and thank you for supporting the economy and businesses of Langlade County!

Fishing Reports
LANGLADE COUNTY FISHING REPORTS

With 776 lakes of which 207 of these are from springs and 225 streams creating 391 miles of trout streams, Langlade County provides unlimited fishing opportunities from pan fish to musky. Many of the lakes have public launch access. However, most County lakes are small (less than 100 acres) and are located in remote forest settings. The nearly 400 miles of trout streams support excellent populations of brook, brown, and rainbow trout.

Eastern Langlade County is also home to one of the finest trout streams in the Midwest. The Wolf River offers excellent dry-fly fishing, especially in May and June, with good catches into autumn. The famed trout waters occur in a 40-mile section between Highway T, south to Highway M, and are divided into 10 public access points. This section of the river has a steep gradient creating numerous complex rapids and should only be navigated by experienced anglers. From Post Lake Dam to Highway T, the river is slow-moving and is easy to float with a canoe. Anglers will find good populations of northern pike, walleye, bass, and musky.
