Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing in Langlade County

There are three groomed snowshoe trails in Langlade County, but back-country snowshoeing in Langlade County is truly an experience. Enjoy the 130,000 acres of County forest lands, 50 miles of Langlade County Ice Age Trail, Antigo Single Track Mountain Bike Trail, Game Lake Nature Trail or Jack Lake Mountain Bike Trail in Veterans Memorial Park, or 1.2 mile snowshoe loop from Spychalla's Lodge at Jack Lake Cross Country Ski Trail to trudge through new snow. Fees are not required although donations are appreciated.

Trail Map

The trail is located entirely on Langlade County property east of Antigo off 5th Avenue Road. It's approximately 2+ miles in length and has a variety of trails for all abilities. It is managed by the Langlade County Forestry and Recreation Department and the Antigo Bike & Ski Club. The trail is groomed and tracked by the Antigo Bike & Ski Club.

Moccasin Lake Recreation Area

The Moccasin Lake Trail System is designed for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter. The snowshoe trail is located on the west side of the parking lot. Feel free to make your own trail but please stay off the cross-country ski trail. During the summer, the trail system is used for horseback riding and hiking. Kettlebowl Recreation Area Track 52 Trailhead

Enjoy snowshoeing on 9 miles of varying hills at Kettlebowl Recreation Area Track 52 Trailhead. There will be plenty of heart-pumping excitement for you while snowshoeing the wooded trails in the northern Crocker Hills.

Please be aware that you may encounter sled dog teams and skijorers training. When a person or team is going to pass or overtake another team, they will call out "TRAIL!" When heard, please move to one side of the trail to allow for a safe pass.

The winter trails are groomed in cooperation with the Langlade County Forestry, Parks, and Recreation Department. Trails are marked when open. The parking lot is plowed in winter. Food & restroom facilities are available on winter weekends when Kettlebowl Ski Hill at the Kettlebowl Recreation Area (approximately 1/4 mile from the trailhead) is open from noon to 4 pm.

Kettlebowl Recreation Area Track 52 Trailhead is located approximately 14 miles northeast of Antigo on Langlade-Price Road between Bryant & Lily. The trailhead is exactly ¾ of a mile north of Hwy 52 and Langlade Price Road intersection (¾ mile west of Kettlebowl Ski Hill).
