The Modern Woodmen of America Lodge was officially listed on the State Register of Historic Places in 2024. The lodge is a one-story wood-frame building constructed in 1913 as the Elcho Lodge for the Modern Woodmen of America.  The Elcho Grange used the building as their meeting hall from 1932 to 1966. A private business used the space until 2019, when the owner donated it to the Elcho Historical Society. 

This 110-year-old building represents the important role that the Modern Woodmen, a fraternal benefit society, and the Grange, a social organization, played in the social history of Elcho. 

Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers of the Elcho Historical Society, the legacy of this historic building has stayed intact. Repairs have been made to open the historical site as a museum and event space for future generations to learn the history of and preserve Elcho's roots!  

The Elcho Historical Society is open Sundays 12-3 and Wednesdays 5-7 pm.

Open by appointment. The Elton Schoolhouse was constructed in 1912. It was built as a three-room graded schoolhouse and was in use until the 1950s when it consolidated with White Lake.  This is now the official meeting place of the Elton School Historical Preservation Society and is one of the few buildings left standing in the bustling Elton of yesteryears. The Elton School Historical Preservation Society is working hard to preserve this wonderful piece of history, as well as adding more artifacts and information along the way.

Langlade County Historical Society is open year round.  From October 1 to May 1, they are open Thursday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. From May 1 to October 1, they are open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  The first floor of the museum is open on Monday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm year around when the Welcome Center is open.

The Deleglise Cabin is open May to October from Tuesday - Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Many artifacts and displays from the White Lake area's history, including railroad, farming, logging, lumber and flooring mill, and community artifacts and history. Information about families with over 110 pioneer family banners are hung up around the interior walls. The museum also has military, schools, businesses, and events throughout the history of the area. Exhibits are changed as new artifacts are added.
