The Crocker Hills Horse and Dog Sled Trail System is located on Langlade County's Crocker Hills Recreation Area and private property east of Antigo off Fraley Road. It is approximately 15.3 miles in length and offers a variety of trails and scenic beauty. The horse trail is located between Norway Lake and Evergreen Creek. In the northwestern portion of the trail steep hills and valleys afford the rider beautiful vistas of the northern hardwood complex. The trailhead facilities include a parking with a vaulted restroom. An open-air shelter is also located at the trailhead with several picnic tables on-site.  Fresh water can be obtained by a hand pump. Hitching posts and manure pit are available.

Hwy 45 Riding Stables is a family-owned business for over 30 years that provides a 45-minutes trail ride that is open to the public. For our camps, we offer full day, half day, and overnight camps to children providing a hands-on experience and teaching them the basic training of how to ride and handle a horse. We offer a unique experience riding through the beautiful Northern Wisconsin woods striving for everyone to have a wonderful and safe experience. We are open Monday through Saturday all year round, weather permitting, and our rides go out at 10:00, 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00, by calling 715-623-6868 to make a reservation. 

 

Outside of ski season, the Maranatha Ski Trail system invites visitors to bring their own horses and enjoy 6.7 miles of scenic riding. Discover nine clearly marked loop trails that wind through the beautiful wooded landscapes of Wisconsin’s Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest. With routes ranging from beginner-friendly to expert-level, there’s an option for every rider and comfort level.

In winter, the trail is groomed for traditional (classic) cross-country skiing only. The trail system is maintained by Silver Birch Ranch.

The trailhead begins ½ mile East of Silver Birch Ranch.  The parking area is at the trailhead on the right (south) side of Sawyer Lake Road. There is space for approximately 6-8 cars.

 

Moccasin Lake Recreation Area offers horseback riding trails.  The trail system is located west of Elcho on the existing cross-country ski trail and adjoining forest roads. This area features a variety of rolling terrain and is highlighted by two river basins. Moccasin has ample room for trailer parking and grazing. There are gravel pad pull-in sites with picnic tables. There is a recreational shelter, pit toilet, and hand pump for water. Facilities also include an additional parking area.
