The Gartzke Flowage Recreation Area offers trails that are very scenic and traverse through a Norway Pine plantation, upland hardwood, and cedar swamps along the flowage. Several spring seeps dot the landscape and add to the natural beauty of the area.  The trail is maintained by the Antigo Bike & Ski Club.
Location: The trail is located entirely on Langlade County property east of Antigo off 5th Avenue Road.

Whether you are a first-time mountain biker looking for a confidence-building ride or a seasoned shredder chasing smooth, high-fun miles, Jack Lake offers something for every skill level. The trail winds through a constantly changing Northwoods landscape—passing through northern hardwoods, aspen stands, and conifer forests—and keeps the scenery just as engaging as the ride.

Along the way, the route meanders beside three undeveloped glacial lakes and travels through wetlands and bogs, creating outstanding opportunities for nature viewing and a true backcountry feel.

When the snow flies, the adventure continues: the trail is groomed in winter for fat tire biking, making Jack Lake a reliable year-round outdoor recreation option.

Length: The trail is approximately 12 miles in length.
Location: The trailhead is located in the Jack Lake Recreation Area's South Trailhead within Langlade County's Veteran's Memorial Park 15 miles north of Antigo. Once in the park, the trailhead is located in the southwest corner of the parking lot before entering the campgrounds.

Explore the Moccasin Lake Trail, a scenic four-season destination that showcases some of the most impressive overlooks in the Elcho area. Set high above the landscape, this trail system spans views into two distinct river basins, the Prairie River flowing west and the Hunting River flowing east, creating a unique vantage point for outdoor enthusiasts. On the eastern leg, the view overlooks a vast black spruce swamp that extends all the way to and beyond Elcho, offering a true Northwoods experience and opportunities for nature viewing. The far end of the trail, riders and hikers can tackle three hills: the Luge, the Expressway, and the Muskellunge, which adds a bit of adventure.

In winter, the snowshoe trail is open to winter fat tire bikers, expanding your options for cold-weather exploration.

The challenging Nicolet Roche Mountain Bike Trail, located in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, is a tight and technical single-track trail that incorporates natural features like long sections of intermediate trails littered with technical rock gardens, fun punchy climbs, and advanced features that make excellent use of the terrain. It is sure to keep the excitement level up.
Location:  Trailheads are located on the south end at Boulder Lake Campground & Boat Landing, 1.8 miles northeast of Hwy 55 via Cty WW and Forest Road 2116, on the north end of Hwy 64, 3.3 miles east of Langlade, and the end of Van Alstine Road.

The City of Antigo Springbrook Trail is a three-plus-mile trail constructed out of a combination of asphalt, boardwalk, and wood-chip paths along Antigo Lake and Spring Brook before meandering through forests.  The 10-foot-wide trail has 420' of low-level boardwalk and 1,800 feet of raised boardwalk along Spring Brook waterway.  There are four overlooks and two bridges constructed with funds and labor provided by Inland Lakes, the City of Antigo, and the Antigo Rotary Club. The Springbrook Trail is cleared during the winter, so take advantage of the paved trail to walk, run, and enjoy our community. 

The trailhead is on Fourth Avenue in Antigo, east of Hwy 45. You can also access the trail by parking in the cul-de-sac at the end of Virginia Street, behind North Elementary School, Hudson Street Shelter, Lake Park Shelter, or Al Remington Little League Park. Click here to view trail amenities.

 

The Wolf River State Trail offers 33.4 miles of trail to mountain bike from White Lake to Lake Metonga in Forest County. The Wolf River State Trail follows along the former Wisconsin Central railroad corridor and is adjacent to the Wolf River. The trail is non-motorized in summer from White Lake to Lily, but from Lily to Lake Metonga the Wolf River State Trail is motorized. The trail is gravel based in Langlade County and may be rough or soft in sections, so the tread is more suitable for mountain or gravel bicycles. 

From Wallrich Rd parking lot to West Hollister Rd is 4.9 miles, and from West Hollister Rd to Lily parking lot is 5.7 miles.  The total non-motorized section of trail from Wallrich Rd to Lily is 10.6 miles. For more information on the Wolf River State Trail and maps, click here.
