Triple R Gets Ready for Ride Saturday, Sunday Equine Event set in Lily Area

After a massive cleanup effort, members of the Triple R are going to relax and do some riding.
The longtime equestrian club will hold its fall trail ride this weekend, headquartered at the Sno Birds Clubhouse located on Turtle Lake Road just off Highway 52 at Lily.
According to Diane Resch, the Crocker Hills trails were battered by the July 19 windstorm that swept through the area, mauling Lily and much of northeastern Langlade County.
“Use this scenario,” Resch said. “Take a tangled blackberry thicket, now picture that same tangled thicket with trees, instead of briars, big enough it took two people to go around. You couldn’t see through them at times.”
Twenty-three club members spent two weeks and 451 hours cleaning up the mess.

“Everyone will be able to see what we were dealing with after Mother Nature had her temper tantrum or her method of house cleaning,” Resch said, encouraging riders to bring their cameras. “We just ask that riders do not go off the marked trail as that part hasn’t yet been cleaned up.
Riders can go on their own or with a guide at noon on Saturday and Sunday.
Cost is $5 per horse and a copy of a current Coggins Test is required.
Weekend camping will be available for $10. Water will be available. Dogs are allowed in camp but not on the trail.
A buffet dinner will be served Saturday night by the Lily Sno Birds and there will be dancing and karaoke with T.J. and Greg.
