Just over 24 hours after the snowmobile trails were reopened in Langlade County, sledders revved up their machines for the 22nd annual Langlade County Snowmobile Council ride.

The Lily Sno Birds Clubhouse was again the site for the event, which was hosted by volunteers from the club. It drew a large crowd of snowmobilers for food and refreshments starting at 11 a.m. Riders enjoyed pizzas, ham and cheese sandwiches, chili and cheese trays.

Many snowmobilers come each year to the event to meet and chat with old friends and acquaintances but also to meet new snowmobilers and visitors to the area.

This was also the weekend for the 34th National Multiple Sclerosis, Wisconsin Chapter Snowmobile Fund Raiser and Ride headquartered at the Potawatomi Casino Hotel in Carter.

The MS Riders stopped at the Lily Sno Birds Clubhouse on Friday and made other stops in the Langlade, Forest and Oconto counties during their weekend stay and riding of snowmobile trails in the area.

The trails had been closed during the recent January thaw to preserve the base, but colder weather and a bit of snow allowed them to reopen on Friday morning.

Snowmobiles lined up outside the Lily Sno-Birds Clubhouse
for the annual Langlade County Snowmobile Council’s ride Saturday.
