Langlade County will live up to its billing as “The County of Trails” this weekend.

The second annual TrailCon USA conference will be held Friday and Saturday at the Langlade County Fairgrounds, offering an opportunity to mingle with trail users and vendors and maybe try out some new equipment.

The show will run Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“This is your one stop event for exploring recreation in Wisconsin and surrounding regions,” Chris Berry, director of the Langlade County Economic Development Corporation, said. “It is also the very best opportunity to interact with other trail advocates and enthusiasts representing a full spectrum of trail-based recreationists from around the area.”

TrailCon USA is hosted by a wide range of state wide organizations including The Wisconsin ATV Association, The Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs, the Wisconsin Horse Council, the Wisconsin Bike Federation, the Wisconsin Off-Highway Motorcycle Association and the Wisconsin Four Wheel Drive Association. The national organization sponsor is the Blue Ribbon Coalition.

"We have high expectations for the TrailCon event again this year," Greg Mumm, executive director, said. "Blue Ribbon Coalition is excited that this event will really bring people together in the region. We encourage everyone that can to attend the TrailCon USA this year, and join with us to make the experience a real boon for recreational access!"

Each organization will have a booth at this year's event, including local chapters from around the state that are part of at least of the state organizations.

There will be vendors and booths from a wide range of outdoor recreation including opportunities to learn about camping with your horse, and discover all the exciting snowmobiling, full-size four wheeling, and other trail based recreation opportunities. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will also have its motorcycle simulator onsite for tryouts.

Other activities include the new "Demonstration Village," where participants can try out the latest models of ATVs and UTVs on their off-road demonstration track and more. There will also be motorcycle and ATV flat track racing at the conclusion of Saturday's events.

Mumm, along with Wisconsin ATV Association President Randy Harden, will host a town hall meeting to present the broader vision for regional cooperation at the TrailCon USA event.

Another workshop will be offered by the president of Trail Design Specialists, Mike Riter, on trail design construction and maintenance.

There will also be opportunities to learn how to create a "Partnerships In Trail Access." ATVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles, full-size four wheel drive vehicles, bicycles and equestrians all share many of the same struggles and issues with land access. The focus will be on learning how to work together to protect and increase riding areas.

Also involving trail access, a workshop from Polaris Industries will showcase a new app they are working on that provides just that, Trail Access data. These devices will show maps of ATV and UTV trails from around Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Four Wheel Drive Association is presenting a workshop with I8Mud called "Proper techniques on using a winch."
