Second Annual Sustainable Farm Tour Set for County Sites Saturday

The second annual Langlade County Sustainable Farm Tour, featuring an opportunity to discover the potatoes, dairy, fruits, veggies, and meats produced in Langlade County, will be held on Saturday.
Sponsored by a grant from the Wisconsin Farmer’s Union, everyone is invited to take their choice and tour Canopy Gardens, Grandview Orchard, Igl Farms, McDougal’s Farms, and the Organic Valley dairy farm operated by the Bures family.
“The farmers are proud of what they do and are excited to share their farms with you,” Lisa Rettinger of Grandview Orchard said. The guided walking tours, appropriate for people of all ages, start at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 2 p.m. at each farm. The farmers ask that you arrive 10 minutes prior to the tour, so the tours can start on time.
Tickets for the day are $5 per person and can be purchased at any of the farms on the day of the event or in advance at Sweet Thyme or Natural Living.

Bures Family Organic Dairy Farm: Take a hay wagon ride through the pastures and fields to see the cows at work. Visit the calves in the barn. Look at the machinery and explore the farm buildings! Bures Family Organic Dairy Farm is located at N6071 Rosedale Rd, Deerbrook.
McDougal’s Farm is the first community-supported agriculture vegetable farm in Langlade County. The McDougals grow 400 different varieties including flowers, herbs, and vegetables. The guided tour will meander through the patchwork type fields and hoop houses, giving visitors an up close look at the growing methods used to keep the farm sustainable and chemical free. McDougal’s Farm is located at W10835 Bluebell Rd, Deerbrook.
Visit Canopy Gardens and find out that there's more to hydroponics than meets the eye. Get an inside look at the greenhouse and sort facility, and learn just what it takes to grow their produce. Canopy Gardens is located at N3000 Orchard Rd.
Igl Farms is a familyowned and-operated certified organic farm specializing in organic potatoes and directmarketed grass-fed beef. It is located at W9689 Cherry Rd.
Grandview Orchard & Nursery Stock is an apple orchard managed as an ecosystem without the use of synthetic chemicals. Come see how they incorporate beneficial plants, chickens, pigs, and other cultural practices! Grandview Orchard & Nursery Stock is located at W8086 County Rd F.
