The Northwoods Tractor Club marked an excellent 2017 Old Time Plow Days Old Time Plow Days celebration Saturday at the Polar Recreational Ball Park.

There was a steady crowd to see mules and antique tractors plow a nearby field, dine on burgers, brats and hot dogs and enjoy a perfect day outdoors.

It went very well, Mike McDougal, who heads the club said after the event ended.

The club’s 120 members, many who own restored tractors or have one or two in the midst of a project, turned out for the day of fun. And despite a little nip in the air, it turned out to be a delightful day.

McDougal explained that the field used in the morning plowing exercises were different than at the event’s former site in the Neva area. There are hills out there near Polar, McDougal said, noting that some of the older machines were not necessarily set up for the more rocky and hilly terrain.

Back at the park, the crowd enjoyed the petting zoo, this year with new and different animals — including a skunk — and the barrel train ride for youngsters didn’t get a break all day.

When one trip around the park ended, another started, McDougal said.

There was an assortment of vendor booths, demonstrations including a chainsaw carving exhibition and plenty more. There were raffles and a number of things to do for all ages.

No one seemed eager to leave, McDougal suggested. The band, Thunder Country, from Keshena, performed until past 6:30 p.m.
