Plow Days Saturday at Polar Park

The fields may be a bit too wet for plowing, but that won’t stop the seventh annual Old Time Plow Days, a celebration of the big and small iron that served farmers for decades, on Saturday.
Sponsored by the Northwoods Tractor Club, Plow Days will be held starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Polar Recreational Ball Park, located east of Antigo at N2700 County Highway S. The parade, a favorite of participants and spectators, will be at noon.
This year’s featured tractor will be the Farmall, which Tractor Club President Mike McDougal called probably one of the most popular tractors ever.
One of the finest examples will be Ron Korn’s Farmall M, which was purchased new by his uncle in 1950.
That sturdy Farmall will be pulling a costume trailer with a vintage thistle cutter, a rare piece of horse-drawn machinery, that Korn rescued from a life as a yard ornament.

It’s just a neat old piece of equipment, McDougal said. It’s going to be one of the first pieces for our museum when we get it built.
Weather and conditions permitting, the day will include plowing, threshing, chopping, chain saw carving and other demonstrations.
There will be static displays, including the thistle cutter, along with a flea market, crafters and other vendors on the grounds. Youngsters can also enjoy a petting zoo.
The day will also include raffles, food and refreshments and live music by Quarry Road Band.
Proceeds from the event will be earmarked for the club’s museum project.
