The anticipation for the upcoming inaugural MK Triathlon—formerly known as the Splash-N-Dash—is growing.

The event, which draws a mix of local athletes, spectators and supporters, will take place July 14, headquartered at Veterans Memorial Park at Jack Lake.

Young swimmers swarm into Jack Lake in the first leg
of the Spash-N-Dash, now known as the MK Triathlon.

Organizers this year are trying to increase involvement from various parts of the community and not only make it a fun-filled day for racers, but for everyone involved.

This year, racers will be offered a complimentary pulled pork sandwich plate after the race or a boat of Optimist Club fried cheese curds, along with a beverage. Participants over 21 will be given the option of a beer brewed by microbrewery, Oskar Blues, while also having the option of soda or water similar to the younger racers.

All food and drinks will also be for sale for spectators to enjoy as well. There will also be an awards presentation, raffles, and music.

The deadline for online sign-up is Thursday at www.mktriathlon.com. Registrations will also be accepted the day of the race starting at 7 a.m.

The weekend’s events include an new off-road triathlon, a swim/run duathlon and youth race. Competitors can compete in either the solo or team divisions.

The original Splash-N-Dash was created by Michelle Koss who was killed in a bicycling accident in 2016. Her desire was to see it become a fund-raiser for the Antigo Swim Club, to encourage heart-healthy activities and to bring the community together in a fun atmosphere.
