Friends of Michelle Koss will be riding and remembering on Saturday.
The second annual Ride to Remember, a tribute bicycle ride in memory of Koss, will take place on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at Peaceful Valley Park.
This is all in the spirit and last wishes of Michelle Koss, organizer Michelle Nuskiewicz said.
Koss, 53, was an enthusiastic cyclist, skier and all-around athlete who participated in and helped organize many area events, including the Monday night women’s bike ride, Splash-n-Dash swim and trail run, and Wolfman Triathlon. She was struck and killed by a motorist while bicycling near her Bryant home in March, 2016.
Nuskiewicz said she and Koss often rode bikes together, and her friend had expressed a wish to have everyone go for a long bike ride in the event of her passing.
The inaugural event held less than three months after Koss’ death drew 80 bicyclists.
There will be a mass bike release at 10 a.m. with 6, 12 and 21 mile routes.
It is a family friendly event, so bring the kids, Nuskiewicz said. The event is completely free. It’s a great event to promote a healthy lifestyle and recall safety for bikers and drivers alike as we kick of the biking season.
There will be fruit and water provided by Aspirus Langlade Hospital as well as giveaways.
