Local Organization Featuring Bald Eagle in 4th of July Tours
July 2, 2019
The bald eagle has been our national symbol since 1782, and a local organization is hosting special tours featuring the majestic birds this Fourth of July.
The Raptor Education Group (REGI) in Antigo is inviting the community to celebrate and learn about our nation’s emblem. The nonprofit hosts public tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer, and the tour’s spotlight will be on the bald eagle with the hopes of educating visitors of their importance in central Wisconsin.

“I speak to a lot of the older generations, and sometimes they get emotional when they see a bald eagle flying in the sky because, back then, they didn’t know if they would be around anymore,” said Katie Ibsen, Raptor Education Group’s director of education.
Giving someone a chance to be up close to the bird is an experience that won’t soon be forgotten.
Ibsen added, “People can look in to their eyes, and really see that they are an individual. So its really great that we get kids for the first time seeing a bald eagle up close. Its just something that, it sticks with them.”
Tours are available at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. They last an hour, are limited to 25 people and require pre-registration.
