Langlade County is currently seeking input on bicycling and walking throughout the county and in its towns, villages and cities. Two tools have been made available to help people provide their input including an online survey and an interactive mapping exercise. All county residents are encouraged to complete one or both of these tools.
This input will help determine what types of bicycling and walking improvements will be recommended in the Langlade County Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. The plan process was kicked off earlier this year by the County Forestry, Recreation & Parks Department with the help of the North Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (NCWRPC). The project is being funding through a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
A website has been created to provide information on the plan and links to the survey and mapping exercise. Interested persons can visit http://www.ncwrpc.org/langlade/bike-ped/index.html. “We use these kinds of surveys as a way to ensure our plans reflect what is needed in the community to make biking and walking a safer and more appealing activity,” says Darryl Landeau, Senior Transportation Planner with the NCWRPC.
The NCWRPC is a voluntary association of governments created in 1973 under Wisconsin Statute 66.0309 for the purpose of preparing plans for the physical development of the Region and its communities; to conduct research; to serve as a data center; and as a forum for communication, cooperation and coordination among federal, state, regional, and local interests, and to provide technical services to its members in a 10-county area, which includes Langlade County.
