Langlade County's athletes are invited to "Splash-N-Dash."
Veterans Memorial Park will host the first-ever competition, featuring a half-mile lake swim followed by a three-mile dash on the Ice Age Trail around Game Lake, on July 13.
"The lakes and trails in our area are known for their beauty, and this is a great way to promote health and wellness in our community," race organizer Michelle Koss said.
Competitors are looking forward to a different, and fun, event.
"I know how to run, and Heather Roff knows how to swim, so we are competing as a team and hope to give everyone a run for the money,” local participant Maggie Turnbull said. "It's a fabulous route, and I challenge anyone to finish the race in under 45 minutes."
Prizes will be award to the top three finishers in each age group, and participants can register individually or in tandem teams.
The competition has attracted sponsorship from local businesses, and proceeds will benefit the Antigo Swim Club. For those wishing to extend their visit, camping at Jack Lake is available on a first come, first serve basis.
