Langlade County Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Trails (Off Road Trucks and Jeeps) Officially open today for their first year.
In cooperation with the 4 Lakes 4 Wheelers Off Road Vehicle Club from the Madison Area, Langlade County is happy to officially open the Langlade County OHMV Trails (Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Trails = Off Road Trucks and Jeeps) located off from Sherry Road in the Elton Area.
This area has been unofficially utilized by many off road enthusiast for many years with little control or monitoring. After 3 and a half year of work by the 4 Lakes Club in cooperation with the Forestry, Parks and Recreation Department and approval of the Langlade County Forestry and Recreation Committee the trails were developed utilizing environmentally sustainable management practice standards to allow official use. The trails consist of 3 ranges of classification from easy, more difficult, and most difficult a map is attached to this email notification.
All vehicles are required to have an annual permit which cost $50 per year and each operator must possess an operator permit which cost $10 per year. At this point permits are only available by purchase at the Forestry, Parks and Recreation Office between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday. Our office is located at 1633 Neva Rd., Antigo, WI 54409, in the middle of the Langlade County Fairgrounds, under the flag.
In the near future many off road clubs and some area businesses will be authorized to sell both types of permits directly. Clubs and Businesses interested in providing direct sales of Langlade County OHMV Permits should contact our office to get more information and be informed on the process.
We look forward to the future of the OHMV trails and the tourism business and positive economic impacts that those user groups will bring to the Elton, White Lake, Langlade and Lily Areas.
