The fourth annual Splash-n-Dash Duathlon, the only race of its kind in north central Wisconsin, will take place on Saturday, July 9 at Veterans Memorial Park.

The event was founded by the late Michelle Koss and will be a day of swimming, running, laughter, friendship and heartfelt remembrance in her honor. She was killed in March when her bicycle was struck by a vehicle.

Hosted by the Antigo Penguins Swim Club, racers will Splash into the crystal clear waters of Jack Lake for either a quarter or half-mile swim and than Dash off to a 5 kilometer trail run.

Race can be done either solo or as a tandem team. Tandem Teams will consist of male, female or mixed where one racer will swim and one racer will run.

New this year are high school tandem teams and a children’s race. The high school tandem teams will consist of one swimmer and one runner. The teams can choose the long or short course. There will be a new traveling trophy for the winner of the High School Tandem team.

The new youth race is for competitors ages 6 to 8 or 9 to 11. Those ages 6 to 8, will swim 25 yards and run a quarter mile. Racers, ages 9 to 11, will swim 50 yards and run a half mile.

Prices for the adult race range from $40 for an individual to $70 per tandem team for June registrations. High school tandem teams cost $70 per team. The youth race cost $15. Prices will increase an additional $5 on July 1.
