Fuddfest Ready To Roll In Town of Vilas In Langlade County

A mix of classic talent plus some up-and-coming stars will mark Fuddfest 2013, with campers and revelers already arriving in the Deerbrook grounds.
Traditionally billed as “a celebration of life and friend,” the event kicks off Wednesday and continues through Sunday at the complex located off Highway H in the town of Vilas.
A traditional Fudd highlight will be Saturday’s play, which this year is being called, “Everything is bigger in Texas,” a tribute production.
The shows have been part of Fuddfest since it was a family birthday party for Del Nicholson years ago. The event has evolved into being a public festival with big-name entertainers, and the home talent play — no matter how silly it gets — has endured.
There are people who have been traditional members of the cast.
Susie Tomany is Calamity Jane, Rich Bina is the Lone Ranger, and Dennis Klement plays the part of the sheriff this year.
There are plenty more in the big cast.
The play is staffed by locals but some true talent will occupy the stage for the rest of the event.
The chair line will be forming on Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m. with Eddy Raven taking the stage at 6 p.m. and The Lost Trailers at 8 p.m. At 10 p.m. the local band Raised Reckless will perform in the log music hall.
Musical highlights for Thursday include Katie Armiger at 6 p.m. and Steve Holy at 8 p.m.
Lovin’ Country will open the day in the log music hall at 1 p.m. with polka from Music Connection from 3 to 5 p.m. After the headliners, it’s back to the old town hall at 9 p.m. for classic country by Chuck Johnson and Saving Savannah at 10 p.m.
Friday will be Green Bay Packer Day at Fuddfest, with the karaoke contest at noon and a whop contest from 3 to 5 p.m. The fun continues with the “Everything’s Bigger at Fuddfest” fashion contest at 3:30 p.m.
Music gets underway at 6 p.m. with Jon Pardi followed by Ty Herndon at 8 p.m.
Fox Fire will play in the old town hall at 9 p.m. and Southern Gypsy in the log music hall at 10 p.m.
It’s Milwaukee Brewer Day on Saturday, opening with bingo at 10 a.m. and the tribute play at 2 p.m. The musical lineup includes Rachel Holder at 5 p.m. and country legend Ronnie Milsap at 8 p.m.
In the old town hall, Thunder Country will play at 9 p.m. with Tuscan Road at 10 p.m. in the log music hall.
Fuddfest concludes Sunday with bingo at 10 a.m. and gospel with Stone Soup at 11 a.m. Joey and Rory take the main stage at 2 p.m. followed by Lorrie Morgan at 5 p.m.
Fudd will wind down with Brad Emanuel playing at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $40 daily.
