Fireworks Will Soar For The July Fourth Holiday In Langlade County

Celebrations of the nation’s independence will stretch across the northwoods on Thursday and into the weekend.
Events actually kicked off a bit early, with a special tribute to veterans at Monday’s picnic and music in the park, and they will continue through the weekend.
ANTIGO
Antigo will open its celebration on Thursday with a 7 p.m. parade.
Units will line up on Edison Street at the Antigo Middle School between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
The route will follow Edison Street south to 10th Avenue and then west to Antigo High School.
After the parade, the city is hosting a 30-minute fireworks extravaganza at the high school starting at about 9:20 p.m. City officials promise a wide variety of colors, bursts and booms with an amazing finale.
Best viewing will be along 10th Avenue, Western Avenue and side streets throughout the neighborhood.
ELCHO
In Elcho, fireworks will begin at dusk on Thursday, shot off over Otter Lake.
On Sunday, the fun continues in Elcho when the United Church of Christ Men’s Club hosts its 15th annual chicken barbecue, with serving beginning at 11 a.m. at the Jack LaMar Pavilion. Cost is $14 per person or $25 per couple. Entertainment begins at noon with the Ray Konkol Polka Band from Stevens Point.
POST LAKE
Several days of activities are planned along Upper and Lower Post Lakes, capped by the Post Lake Improvement Association’s annual Fun Fest celebration.
On Thursday the lakes will host the traditional boat parade, an event that draws dozens of entries ranging from small runabouts to the largest of pontoons. Line-up will be at 1 p.m. at Fischer’s Sunset View Resort on Upper Post. Those wishing to be judged must register by 9:30 a.m. that morning at the resort.
On Friday, there will be fireworks over Upper Post at dusk.
On Saturday, Fun Fest will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Community Building on Highway K.
There will be refreshments, youth games and fun throughout the afternoon. In the evening, Sly Billy will play until 11 p.m.
WHITE LAKE
One of the biggest parties in the area will take place on Saturday, when White Lake holds its annual gala.
The day will begin with the County Possum Chase, opening with the one-mile run at 7:30 a.m. and the 10 kilometer race at 8:15 a.m.
A parade will be held at noon, with Dale Oatman as grand marshal. Kayla Krueger is Poppy Princess with Charlese Thompson serving as her court.
Also participating will be the White Lake and Wabeno American Legion groups, Veterans of Foreign Wars color guard, Legion Riders and the White Lake High School band.
There will be live music with Gary’s Basement Band from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and No Schtick from 5 to 9 p.m.
There will be beer and soda, a corn roast and raffle, food, bakery, slushies, light sticks, fish tank, T-shirts for sale, dunk tank and sawdust pile.
A boat parade is slated for dusk with fireworks at approximately 9:15 p.m.
POLAR
The Central Wisconsin Water Walkers will hold a special ski show on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. on Mueller’s Lake at Polar.
There will be concessions and a free-will offering. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the evening.
SUMMIT LAKE
Summit Lake plans two days of celebrations.
On Thursday, there will be a boat parade beginning at 4 p.m. Line-up will be at the boat landing off Forest Road.
On Saturday, fireworks are planned over the lake at dusk.
PELICAN LAKE
The Micikalski Stovewood Museum, located in Jennings, will hold its annual fund-raiser on Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Schoepke town hall on Highway 45, Pelican Lake.
There will be brats and refreshments served throughout the afternoon. A bake sale is also planned.
ANIWA
The picnic tables are out and the concession stand looks ready for the July Fourth festivities at Aniwa on Thursday.
The food and refreshments will start at 4 p.m. in what the community calls “Central Park,” and then when it is dusk, the fireworks will fly.
