Most people have—or nearly have—their gardens planted, and now is the time to begin enjoying the early harvest.

The Antigo Farmers Market will open for its seventh summer season on Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon, in the parking lot of the Country Store at Fourth Avenue and Superior Street downtown.

“We finally have traded in the brutally cold winter with summer-like temperatures, which unfortunately is accompanied by a record crop of mosquitoes,” Renate Bromberg of the market said. “Many of our vendors from past years have already signed up and are anxious to greet all the market visitors.”

Caitlyn Zaverousky will be welcomed as this year’s market manager.

Bromberg predicted there will be a good supply of bedding plants which are now safe to be set out into the garden. There will also be early-season produce such as radishes, asparagus and lettuce. Hillbilly Hollows from Conover will be joining the market for the first time, offering fresh and aged goat cheese, breads, eggs, chickens, and rabbits. The farm has already been active in the winter market, held inside the Country Store.

All products sold at the market are produced locally by the vendors.
