Dedication of New Nicolet Wolf River Scenic Byway

The official dedication of the new Nicolet Wolf River Scenic Byway will take place Tuesday, August 22nd at 4:00 p.m. in the Town of Hiles. The festivities will take place at the Hiles Town Hall. The public is invited and encouraged to attend with a large turn-out expected. Among the many dignitaries expected to attend, Deputy Secretary of Tourism Sarah Klavas will be on hand to represent the state of Wisconsin at the ceremony. The Hiles Service Club will be serving refreshments as well as making artifacts and photos available for view from the Hiles Historical Museum.
The newest state byway is the only byway in the state with a ‘loop’ design. The byway begins in Langlade County on Hwy. 55 at Hwy. 64 going north on Hwy. 55 to Hwy. 52 as it goes through Wabeno. It then connects with Hwy. 32, north to Laona, then west on Hwy. 8/32 through Crandon. From Crandon, the byway goes north on 32 through Hiles to Military Rd. where it then goes north to Hwy. 70. It then goes east on Hwy. 70 to Hwy. 55 where it turns south and then goes through Argonne, Mole Lake and back to Langlade. In total, the new Nicolet Wolf River Scenic Byway covers 147 miles.
For those traveling through or from Crandon to the dedication, Hometown Trolley will be providing transportation from the Crandon City Hall parking lot. Don’t miss an opportunity to experience a ride on a Hometown Trolley for the dedication of this historic event. Hometown Trolley is providing one trolley with a seating capacity of 24. The trolley will leave Crandon at 3:25 p.m. and return to the city lot at approximately 5:15. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
