Autumn leaves weren’t the only colorful scene along the city of Antigo’s boardwalk Saturday.
The Boys & Girls Club of Langlade County held its annual Bright Futures 5K Color Run/Walk and one mile youth run, drawing 158 participants to the Langlade County fairgrounds and the route along the city trail system.
Walkers and runners were doused with color at the finish line, and enjoyed treats and Zumba exercise. The event was timed this year, allowing for a variety of prizes.
A cloud of color flew at the finish line Saturday.
Everything went well and it was a beautiful morning, Angel Zimmerman, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club, said. Overall it was good event.
Honors for most colorful team went to a lively group of trolls, Greta Parsons, Kristi Parsons, Kami Price, Shelly Gertz and Joanna Hilger.
In the men’s division, first place honors went to Javier Hernandez with a time of 20:10. Second went to Mitch Meyer, 22:12, and third to Josh Zalewski, 2:42.
Among females, Hayley Thom was the winner at 23:58. Second honors went to Amy Dahms, 24:40; and third, Hannah Thom, 26:33.
In the youth fun run, tops among the girls was Kenzie Wissbroecker, 7:22. Ashton Brandt finished second at 8:31, and Emersyn Kickhaver, third, 9:59.
In the boys one-mile, James Meade was first at 6:47 followed by Nick Lenzner, 7:13, and Harlon Meade, 7:16.
