ATV/UTV Group to Use Parade to Start its October Charity Ride Campaign

Antigo Area ATV/UTV Club members will be looking ahead when they roll their float down Edison Street in Tuesday’s Fourth of July parade.
The club is using the parade, which gets underway at 7 p.m. and travels from the Middle School to the high school, as the kick-off to its three month fund drive for the 10th annual Make-A-Wish Wisconsin charity ride.
The ride, held in conjunction with the Kettle Morraine ATV Association, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14, headquartered at North Star Lanes.
According to Pete Pennington, Tuesday’s parade float will include a banner promoting the ride and soliciting riders and donations.
“That’s going to serve as the kick-off to our fund-raiser,” he said. “We’d like to raise $10,000 to $15,000 if we can.”
The Kettle Morraine club has been holding the ride in Mountain for the past nine years, but, with its growth, decided a larger location was needed and decided to move to Antigo.
Activities will actually kick off on Thursday, Oct. 12 with guided ATV/UTV rides along Langlade County trails.
Rides will continue on Oct. 13 and in the evening, registration for the big event will be held at North Star Lanes from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by dinner.
Oct. 13 will kick off with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. The ride kicks off at 9 a.m.
Participants will return to North Star Lanes by 5 p.m. for dinner, games, a silent auction, raffles, speakers and more.
Ride entry is $25 per person or $50 per family, or pledges. That includes dinner. Pennington said the overall fund-raising goal is $30,000. He hopes to draw about 200 riders.
“We need all the help we can get,” he said, and encouraged those interested in making pledges to call him at 715-623-4317.
Make-A-Wish Wisconsin’s mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions and to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
