Antigo Sno-Drifters Snowmobile Club & Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs
November 21, 2025
On Saturday, October 25,2025 the AWSC, (Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs), gathered in Stevens Point for their annual banquet/awards ceremony which was held in conjunction with the AWSC workshop and Directors/ Reps meeting from Friday, October 24 – Sunday, October 26, 2025
It was an extra special occasion for the Antigo Sno-Drifters Snowmobile Club because some of their members, Tim and Linda Grall, Drew Grall and Abby Gatton & Lucas Grall, Austin Grall and Alex Walter, Jane and Steve Noskowiak, Lori and Je¦ Vollmer, Brenden Vollmer and Kendra Kruzicki were there to accept the 2025 AWSC Snowmobile Club of the Year Award.
Antigo Sno-Drifters was formed in 1966 and will celebrate its 60th Anniversary next year! Club archives quickly pointed out the community’s need for a snowmobile club when started at the Riverview County Club. Antigo SnoDrifter’s first few meetings drew over 150+ visitors and knew community events were a necessity. It’s even been argued among community old timers that Antigo was the host of the first AWSC(Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs) meeting, although AWSC’s site historically contradicts this. One of our founding members, Joseph Kapusta, was instrumental in helping to set up AWSC.
The Antigo Sno-Drifters recently started recognizing the path they’ve forged at “Making Trails Generational”, and the story was told at the 2024 AWSC Fall Workshop, Family of the Year Awards Ceremony which the Grall/Extended Grall Family were awarded. Drew Grall sifted through the Antigo Sno-Drifter’s archives and was astonished when he learned of his grandparents, Jerry and Ann Grall, being some of the founding members of the club. Fast forward to 2025, and you’ll now see the Grall Family celebrating four generations of dedication to the Antigo Sno-Drifter’s along with many of our other awesome families in our club who are passing the love of snowmobiling and their knowledge of how to build/maintain great snowmobile trails to their children and grandchildren.
Our club currently has approximately 120 members. Our dedicated and hard-working members take pride in helping to build and maintain many of the 99 miles of excellent snowmobile trails for the Antigo Sno-Drifters in Langlade County by signing, brushing, and grooming trails. One of our long-time members, Donny Wild, was awarded the 2019 AWSC Volunteer Groomer of the Year Award and 2020 International Groomer of the Year Award. At the age of 86 Donny had the most grooming hours this past snowmobile season.
On an average snowmobile season, it’s not uncommon for Donny to dedicate 300+ hours in the groomer because he feels that, “He is in Heaven when he is out in the groomer”. Other members from our club who received AWSC awards for grooming are Drew Grall 2023 AWSC Young Groomer of the Year and Austin Grall 2024 Young Groomer of the Year. Our club generally has up to 15 people that help groom the trails for the Antigo Sno-Drifters. The club’s grooming equipment of choice is two state of the art John Deere tractors equipped with Soucy Tracks and Trailsetter Drags.
Langlade County is known as “The County of Trails” and has beautiful trails with big timber, rolling hills, fast flats, and cedar swamps. Many people come year after year to enjoy some of the best snowmobile trails in Wisconsin. In 2023 the Antigo Sno-Drifters in conjunction with Langlade County joined the ranks of AWSC Snowmobile Friendly Community by achieving that award. Follow our journey on Antigo Sno-Drifters Facebook page for daily content during the sledding season and honest trail reports. Friday night hotel reports are a page favorite promoting our snowmobile-friendly community’s tourism drive! In addition to our page, you can follow the Langlade County: The County of Trails, Antigo/Langlade County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, and Travel Wisconsin on Facebook as well to keep up to date on trail conditions during the snowmobile season.
We are sure hoping for a great snowmobile season with a lot of snow! Just remember when you are snowmobiling out there this year to thank the wonderful landowners that make it possible for you to ride on their land and the great corporate sponsors that support us. In addition, remember that it takes a lot of time and hard work by our dedicated volunteers in the Antigo Sno-Drifters and all the other active volunteers in our eight other snowmobile clubs that are out there making sure that our trails in Langlade County are some of the best in Wisconsin! Think Snow!!
