With help and encouragement from the Antigo Rotary Club, the city of Antigo has expanded its popular disc golf course to a full 18 holes.

Rotary volunteers joined Park, Recreation and Cemetery Department staff and members of the Antigo Disc Golf League to place the new disc golf baskets for the additional nine holes earlier this month, carving the fairways out of previously overgrown areas at the north end of the city’s trail system.

“We are excited to offer our community an expanded course and hope that we will see some tournaments and expanded league play as a result,” Sarah Repp, the city’s parks, cemetery and recreation director, said. “ We are grateful to Rotary for funding the
expansion and the Disc Golf League for their efforts to work on brush clearing and course clean-up prior to the work day.”

Additionally, the course expansion is providing the community with more rough trails to utilize year-round for hiking, biking, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing.

All of the baskets were placed as of Friday. Crews will be working on the tee signs as time allows.
