The Antigo Bike and Ski Club will continue its annual tradition of serving waffles and more at Gartzke Flowage on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Nick Salm will be preparing Belgian waffles. The club will provide maple syrup, some fruit toppings, coffee, plates, cups and utensils. Others are encouraged to bring some favorite toppings, fruit, juice, or sausages to share.
“Most importantly, bring family and friends,” Joe Hermolin, a club member and breakfast participant, said. “ This is a great after-Christmas event for families from the area and visitors for the holidays.”
Participants can ski, snowshoe or hike down to the shelter and meet people who enjoy snow rather than go into hibernation in winter, Hermolin added.
There is no charge but freewill donations are welcome to help with the cost of the event and for the club’s efforts in trail maintenance.
Gartzke Flowage is located about eight miles east of Antigo at W6379 Fifth Avenue Road. There are about 6 1/2 miles of cross country ski trails and snowshoe trails catering to all skill levels. The area has a diverse topography with high ridges and plateaus. The trail travels through several timber types and along the flowage. Facilities include a parking area, restrooms, and a warming shelter.
