Langlade County's Ice Age Trail 50th Anniversary Hike

Join the Ice Age Trail Alliance for the Langlade County Segment's 50th Anniversary Hike on Saturday, October 7th! Enjoy peak Northwoods fall colors and hike to get your commemorative patch.

The event will take place along the Summit Moraine segment from 9 am to 3 pm. There will be kids activities, shuttle services, and various different hike lengths from 10 miles to 2.05 miles.  The hikes are self-guided, so take the time you need to get back to the starting point. However, the event and Chapter support ends at 3:00 p.m.

Bring a daypack, water, snacks, and all the things you’ll need to have a successful and enjoyable hiking experience.

Registration is required to assist with shuttle logistics.  Register by clicking here. It’s FREE to hike, and donations are greatly appreciated.

DETAILS:
Event headquarters: Jack Lake Lodge at Veterans Memorial Park (N8375 Park Road, Deerbrook, WI 54424)

Park, check-in, and board a bus (or car) to the start of a fabulous hike. You’ll walk back to the Lodge. Snacks and beverages will be provided by Wolf River Roots.

Check-In/Check-Out: 
Both happen at Jack Lake Lodge, so, please stop in before you get on the bus (and to receive a car shuttle).
  • Check-in: 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. (Please see hike options below to determine the best arrival time.)
  • End time: This is somewhat dependent on how far and fast you hike. The event officially wraps up at 3:00 p.m.
Hike Distances:
  • 10.9 miles, County S to Jack Lake* – This hike includes a portion of the Lumbercamp Segment in addition to approximately half of the Summit Moraine Segment. Enjoy a hike through the Peters Marsh State Wildlife Area before climbing Summit Knob, the outer edge of the Summit Lake Moraine. Hikers must arrive by 9:00 a.m. to check-in. The bus departs at 9:15 a.m.
  • 5.6 miles, County A to Jack Lake* – This hike begins at the eastern end of the Summit Moraine Segment and covers about half the segment. Enjoy rolling terrain and glittering lakes.  Hikers must check in between 9 am and 12 pm to get a car shuttle provided by a Chapter volunteer.
  • 2.5 miles, Pence Lake Road to Jack Lake* – This hike ventures through mature stands of aspen and other younger-aged forest. Hikers must check in between 9 am and 12 pm to get a car shuttle provided by a Chapter volunteer.
  • Arboretum hike – This hike is an out-and-back option in the Arboretum. Hikers can extend their hike to loop around Game Lake, which is approximately 2.05 miles. Check-in is not required for this hike. Arrive any time during the event.
