Swiftwater Safety and Rescue Course

The Northwoods Outdoor Center will be hosting a whitewater safety course on the weekend of June 10th-11th, from 9am-4pm, at the Bear Paw Outdoor Adventure Center.

Instructor Chad Benton brings fun, experience, and creativity to Swiftwater Safety. In this course, you'll learn about self-rescue, risk management, and river safety. The focus will be on boaters in Class II/III rivers, but the course is useful for anyone in moving water. No previous whitewater experience is required, but experience in moving water will help. Most of the time will be spent on land, with some time in boats. 

The course fee is $75 for the 2 day course. There are some scholarships available. There will be no official certifications from this course.

If you have a whitewater boat and gear, please bring it along to practice swimmer rescue. Bring warm clothes and make your own plans for breakfast and lunch.
