Live Music, food and entertainment throughout the event. Cornhole Tournament. Relay For Life creates a sense of community by bringing people together in a moving and fun atmosphere with time for strengthening relationships. The event is volunteer-driven, with American Cancer Society staff coaching local volunteers. Everyone is welcome! Athletes and non-athletes join teams of individuals representing clubs, corporations, organizations, churches, neighborhoods and families at this fun community event. But, you do not have to be on a team to participate in Relay! In fact, we encourage the public to come and find out what Relay is all about, and hope that they will get more involved next year. The money raised helps support American Cancer Society programs in research, education, advocacy and service – locally, statewide and nationally. Relay For Life is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a life-changing experience. At Relay, every person in the community has a chance to celebrate, remember, and fight back. At Relay, you can find healing, comfort, and support from others who have faced cancer or who have lost a loved one to the disease. No matter why you take part in Relay, however, one thing is clear: With every step you take, you are helping the American Cancer Society save lives. With your help, we aren’t fighting just one type of cancer – we’re fighting for every birthday threatened by every type of cancer in every community. Great community exposure. Opportunity to be a community leader and do community service. Terrific group outing. Raise money for a good cause. From the opening lap, led by the cancer survivors, to the emotional candle-lighting luminaria ceremony, through the triumphant final lap, Relay For Life is something participants will always remember!
