Antigo Visual Arts (AVA), in collaboration with downtown Antigo businesses, is excited to launch a community art initiative designed to bring residents and visitors into the heart of our city. This project will feature a Mural Scavenger Hunt running throughout the summer of 2025 (June 1 through August 14), showcasing the talents of local artists while highlighting the unique businesses in our downtown district.
Project Overview:
Theme: Each mural will depict a Wisconsin animal, bird, or flower.
Format: Murals will be small-scale, approximately 2 to 3 feet square, and either displayed in business windows or mounted on removable boards on exterior building walls.
Scavenger Hunt & Prizes: Participants will explore downtown to find all the murals and vote on their favorites.
In the event of a tie, winners will be drawn at random. Winners will be announced on August 16 during the Downtown Car Show. You don’t need to be present to win—but you do need to get hunting!
Artist Awards: The top four murals, as voted by the public, will receive matching prizes.
A silent auction featuring select scavenger hunt artworks will take place during the Downtown Car Show. The auction will take place under the horse mural on 5th Avenue.
All prizes will be distributed as Chamber Gift Certificates to keep the funds local and support Antigo businesses.
Artwork:
32 original artworks/buildings inspired by Wisconsin’s birds, animals, and native flowers. The works range from traditional paintings to carvings, a mosaic, and even nearly 3D pieces. The artworks are marked with “AVA” and a number to help guide participants.
27 local artists are participating
There is no cost to participate. Entry forms are available here (Download Signup Form) and at participating businesses and must be completed and returned to the Antigo Public Library no later than August 14. Only one entry per person.
Participants are also encouraged to vote for their top four favorite artworks. The artists whose pieces receive the most votes will receive the same prize values as the winning participants. It’s a fun way to support local talent and connect with the creative spirit of the community.
AVA is grateful for the support of city staff and Chamber partners in promoting this effort.
