The Rib Mountain Riders will fire up the Langlade County Fairgrounds race track for the first time in nearly a year when they bring a program of quad and motorcycle events to the Antigo facility.

The youth classes will hit the big half-mile clay track at 6 p.m., and the pro classes will be out and riding at 9 p.m. Saturday.

It is a community event with a show on the grounds by the Northwoods Tractor Club and a RMR Poker Run before the races. There will also be vintage and modified cars and trucks on display and the Antigo Area Youth Hockey Association will be serving food to the fans.

A spokesman for Rib Mountain Riders wrote in the program that the Wausau group returns to Antigo and flat track racing here with delight.

The program traces motorcycle race history and the birth of the Rib Mountain organization which was chartered by the American
Motorcyclist Association in 1946. The article states “we are one of the oldest clubs still in operation.”

The group has been to the Langlade County Fairgrounds a number of years over the 71-year tenure of the club.

“This year we will bring you the excitement of the quads and 450/open pro bikes along with the AMA/District 16 Youth, Armature and Vintage Motorcycles,” the program states.

The Langlade County Fairgrounds Promotions Committee is delighted the riders are coming for the Saturday visit.

“Langlade County has a long history of racing,” the committee members said, from horses to snowmobiles, off road vehicles, stock cars,
quads, cycles just to name some examples.

They encourage the riders and their fans to have fun, and do it safely.

One of the riders to watch Saturday will be Steve Kasten, who operates SK Service in Hatley. He has been racing for 38 years, turned professional at the age of 16 and is one of the few riders in Wisconsin with an “expert” rating.

He is classified as one of the top 100 riders in the United States, having nationwide experience.
